The Kerrisdale Community Centre Society (KCCS) is more than halfway through its 80th anniversary year. As such, we thought we’d mark the occasion with a walk down KCCS memory lane – in photos! (Click on each photo to see the whole image.)
The Kerrisdale Community Centre Society (KCCS) recently honoured retired KCCS board member Fred Jay for his many years of dedicated service. Elected to the board of directors in 2012, Fred was most recently involved in the Program Committee and an active participant in the Opera Zone since its 2017 inception. After 19.5 years as the Kerrisdale Community Centre Society’s food services coordinator, Betty Anderson is hanging up her apron. We are excited to announce a new blog page dedicated to showcase Recipes from Betty’s Kitchen. For those who are not familiar with our Seniors’ Lunch Program, more than 27,000 Society-subsidized lunches were served at our Seniors Centre before Covid-19. On average about 100 meals were served each day, 6-days a week. This program was a valuable resource to our Kerrisdale seniors. World’s oldest Curler and our Tai Chi student! Meet Lola Holmes On top of curling, Lola does Tai Chi at the Kerrisdale Community Centre, which has been postponed due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions announced by the Public Health Office. 50th Anniversary! The Choir in 1970 was a small group of Seniors who loved to sing. The Seniors Centre did not exist so they practiced in the main Kerrisdale Community Centre under the direction of Dorothy Harford and Pianist, Irene Hope. A “New Horizons Grant” was obtained to buy their dresses and jackets. The Conductor, Pianists and Choir members are all volunteers who devote their time performing a minimum of 12 concerts a year at
