Volunteering

Become a Volunteer at the Kerrisdale Community Centre: Opportunities for Youth, Seniors and Adults

Youth Volunteer Opportunities

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Birthday parties are the biggest volunteer opportunity we have at Kerrisdale. With 4 parties almost every weekend throughout the year, we rely heavily on our volunteers to provide an excellent birthday party experience. Responsibilities include: helping to set up the games and toys, supervising the party, serving the birthday cake, and cleaning up at the end of the party.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Kerrisdale Community Centre hosts a number of special events, many of which coincide with holidays throughout the year. Since every event is different, our volunteers take on a number of roles, such as: helping in the kitchen for Breakfast with Santa, running the fun fair on Family Day, and getting their hands dirty during Pumpkin Carving!

WEEKLY PROGRAMS

Some of our weekly children’s programs at Kerrisdale require volunteer assistance, such as basketball, badminton, and pottery. Volunteers for these programs sign up by season, and must commit to attending weekly classes. Weekly program volunteers must receive permission from our Program Assistant 3 before obtaining a Police Check. Some experience in the program area is preferred.

DAY CAMPS

Those volunteers who are at least 16 years old can help out with our Kerrisdale Day Camps! Taking place over the summer break, winter break, and on Pro-D days throughout the year, these day camps are an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with kids! Our volunteers assist day camp staff with all aspects of the daily routine, including supervising the campers and helping to run activities for them.

Youth Leaders Program

The Youth Leaders program is an activity-based volunteer program that follows the academic year. This program is a great opportunity for students who want to develop their personal and professional skills such as public speaking, event planning and leadership skills throughout the year. Please note that registration opens every September for intake and will not be accepting new participants mid-way through the fall season.

Opportunity to Join Board Committees

The Kerrisdale Community Centre Society is always looking for members to join Board Committees.
