Library Lowdown

Did you know that October is Canadian Library Month? In honour of that, we felt a visit to the Vancouver Public Library’s Kerrisdale Branch was in order. Opened in 1943, the library moved into its current space on the lower level of the Kerrisdale Community Centre in the ’50s. Introducing Lis

Say hello to Lis Dixson, our new food services coordinator! A Red Seal-certified chef, Dixson earned her culinary chops in private catering, senior food delivery and, most recently, at BC Ferries before starting her latest role in August. She’s also worked stints as a coffee roaster, tile setter and faux finisher, and recently completed a psychology degree. “I think everyone is fantastic – the staff, the volunteers, the seniors – everyone has been really welcoming,” says Dixson about her first weeks overseeing the Seniors Lunch
