Instructor Spotlight: Lai Chun Cheung (Lisa Low)

Say hello to Lai Chun Cheung, a master instructor (or sifu) in tai chi and health qigong. Trained by world-renowned tai chi and health qigong masters from China, Cheung (whose personal name is Lisa Low) has been participating in international health qigong seminars, masters training and World Health Qigong Tournaments for over a decade. Heavy Lifter

Only 17 years old, Roger Kong already has a lot of notches on his powerlifting belt. Since he began training during the pandemic, the Kerrisdale resident has consistently landed in the top four spots at provincial, national and international competitions. Much Ado About Mary

Mary Dopson has a lot to celebrate this fall. In September, not only did the Kerrisdale resident turn 105 (photo, above) but she also became the oldest living female inducted into both the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame  (photo, below left) and the new Athletics Manitoba Hall of Fame. Her son, Richard Dopson, accepted the latter award on Mary’s behalf at the launch ceremony in Winnipeg (photo, below right). What’s more, as a Kerrisdale Community Centre Society (KCCS) member, Mary is emblematic of a life well
