Second Story Circle a Success

The second Kerrisdale-Musqueam Story Circle, held in mid November, drew attendees of all ages and walks of life. After listening to Gitxsan artist and scholar Michael Blackstock share his thoughts and Indigenous knowledge on water sustainability, participants each created their own climate-change-themed collage (see photo above).

The collages were then joined together in one large collective piece, which now hangs in the Seniors Centre lobby beside a joint collage created at the first Story Circle in June of this year. Launched by the KCCS’s Community Engagement Committee, in conjunction with the Musqueam First Nation and Vancouver Arts Colloquium Society, the Story Circle aims to inform and guide our community’s approach to reconciliation through events and the centre’s Indigenous Pop-up Library.
