Celebrating International Women’s Day with a shoutout to all of our female instructors, including Group Fitness teacher Nevada Banks (photo, above).
Growing up dancing, Banks has worked as a fitness professional for the past 16 years. Teaching at the Kerrisdale Community Centre for over a year now, she is passionate about creating movement classes that are fun and inclusive for every kind of body.
“It can be intimidating to try something new,” says Banks, adding that group settings can give rise to a wonderful sense of community. “I love seeing students of all ages transform their relationship to themselves and their bodies through group fitness classes and supportive community.”
A BCRPA-certified group fitness leader, Banks specializes in pilates, pre/post natal and older adult fitness. She’s also a certified barre fitness instructor and has pursued personal exploration through yoga, Yamuna Body Rolling, the MELT Method, Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique, Lucid Body, Authentic Movement, Laban Movement and more.
A teacher of all ages, Banks’ best moments are when she can help students achieve their goals and discover physical options they never knew possible.
“I’m passionate about helping people develop deeper healthier relationships with themselves and their bodies,” says Banks, whose current pursuit of a masters in clinical counselling will no doubt further enhance her students’ overall experience.
