Are you an active senior looking to make a difference? Then the Kerrisdale Community Centre Society has the perfect opportunity for you. Currently seeking nominations for its nine-member Seniors Council, the society is inviting community-minded candidates aged 55 and over to forward their expressions of interest.
Kerrisdale seniors have a long tradition of active involvement in the community centre. The Seniors Council, with assistance of centre staff, has organized activities and events at the Kerrisdale Seniors Centre for decades. The council also works to make the seniors centre a place where members can enjoy physical, mental and social activities in an atmosphere of involvement and companionship.
Due to COVID-19, elections to the Seniors Council have not been held since February 2020, and the terms of those elected have since expired.
If you’d like to help enrich the lives of today’s seniors and think you’d be a good fit as a new council member — or you know someone who would be — please email your name, contact information and a couple of sentences about your background and interests to the President of the Society at kerrisdalecommunitycentre@gmail.com by 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 4.
Nominees must have a current membership in the Kerrisdale Community Centre Society and be interested in promoting a range of interesting activities for seniors. Membership in the society is free of charge and can be obtained from the desk in the seniors’ wing or the main centre lobby.
Seniors Council elections will be held during the third week of May (exact dates TBA) at the Kerrisdale Community Centre. Proof of valid membership (and age) is required to vote.
