Pickleball Survey Results

As part of our fall season planning, we conducted a survey seeking feedback about the community centre’s pickleball programming.  The survey was sent directly to 250 registered participants, with an impressive and enthusiastic response rate of 144 completed surveys.

A common theme emerged throughout these results; people overwhelmingly favoured the status quo with 129 out of 144 (89.6%) respondents reported being neutral to very satisfied with the centre’s pickleball programming.  With that being said, there were a few notable areas where the majority of people were advocating for change.  In response to this feedback, the centre will be making the following changes for the fall 2024 season:

      1. The waiting period to allow drop-in players will  be reduced to 10 minutes – 50.4% of respondents were in favour of 10 minutes, compared to 30.1% preferring 15 minutes and 19.5% wanting 5 minutes.

        1. Although there are limitations with our registration software, we will be exploring the feasibility of having daily drop-in participants register online (in addition to phone and in-person) – 70.7% of people were interested in this option. In the interim we will be maintaining Phone-In & In-person drop-in registration 2 hours prior to the start of the program.

          1. In order to provide better access to a greater number of players, we will be testing limiting registration to 2 Recreational Pickleball programs per season – 74% of respondents were in favour of imposing limits to registration with 42.3% recommending the 2 games per week option.

            1. We will be adding 6 hours per week of additional Pickleball Court rental time from 6:45 am to 8:45 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Our intention is to gauge interest in this early timeslot with aspirations of creating one or more Recreational Pickleball opportunities.
