Join the Board of Directors

The Kerrisdale Community Centre Society is seeking volunteers to be part of the Board of Directors.


Human Resources; Community Development; Accounting; Organizational and Strategic Planning; Programming, Social Service; Finance; Fundraising; Communications, Facilities Design & Operations.
Board members must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, using a computer and telephone.


The Board of Directors is composed of Kerrisdale Community Centre Society members. You are a member of the Society if you hold a valid Kerrisdale Community Centre membership.

The Board is made up of 18 people, nine of whom are elected each year. Up to five additional members may be appointed by the Board. The Board determines the budget, sets policies regarding operations at the Centre and responds to the Park Board and other community initiatives. The Board meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm in the Centre. A Park Board representative and staff members may also be in attendance. Board Committees report on their work and activities at this time.


Knowledge and skill in implementing a strategic plan is preferred
Experience in non-profit board work is an advantage

Protection of the public interest
Keeping the Kerrisdale Community Centre Society on course with its strategic plan
Writing policies
Keeping the bylaws up to date
Reviewing and authorising plans and commitments
Ensuring compliance with legal and contract requirements
Evaluating the Kerrisdale Community Centre and Society’s work


Approx. 8-10 hours per month


Joining the Board allows you to learn about the inner workings of the Community Centre and influence its management, direction, and scope. It provides hands-on, skill-building experience. It is a concrete way to contribute to the community and meet new people.
