Event Description:

The Chehalis River Hatchery was originally constructed in 1982 to enhance salmon stocks in the Chehalis and Harrison rivers. Today the hatchery receives thousands of visitors who come to learn more about salmon. The hatchery produces coho, chinook, chum and pink salmon, as well as steelhead and sea-going cutthroat trout, for a number of local tributaries that lead to the Fraser River. After the hatchery our next stop will be the Weaver Creek Spawning Channel. Since its construction in 1965, Weaver Creek spawning channel has proven a great success. The run of sockeye today is more than 200 times the size of the run produced from Weaver Creek alone prior to 1965. From the Spawning Channel we will head on over to Harrison Hot Springs and have lunch at the landmark Black Forest Café (included). Guided by Simon Yan
